Job summary

Ochsner Health in New Orleans is seeking an experienced Radiologic Technologist to assess patients and perform routine radiographic procedures following rigorous safety protocols. You will mentor junior staff and students and use radiology information systems to support care.

Required: completion of an approved radiologic technology program, ARRT registration or eligibility within 90 days, current state license, and BLS. Must be adaptable to shift work and travel between facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
• ARRT registered or registry-eligible within 90 days of employment.
• Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Operates imaging equipment per protocol and may assist with invasive steps.
• Reviews patient images for diagnostic quality prior to transmission.
• Completes timely quality control procedures per regulatory standards.
• Assists in departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance).
• Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Adapts communication and care to diverse patient populations.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education

Job Duties

• Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
• Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
• Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as required.
