Job summary

Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth, GA is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures using imaging modalities. This PRN role requires strong patient care skills and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and ARRT registration.
  • Current, valid AHA Healthcare Provider training (BCLS).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic procedures in accordance with the policies and protocols in effect (assessed within 90 days of hire).
  • Familiarity with the technology related to practice in the assigned functional sections.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic exams.
  • Evaluates radiographs for technical quality.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection and calculates exposure factors.
  • Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures.
  • Provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures.
  • Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patient during examinations and procedures.
  • Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contract media, administering first aide, and using the emergency supplies.
  • Practices aseptic technique as needed.
  • Administers contrast media, utilizing policies and procedures as set for by department director.
  • Assists physician with imaging procedures.
  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
  • Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures.
  • Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains patient film and records as required by policies and procedures.
  • Maintains competency in radiologic technology.
  • Maintains professional relationships with members of medical staff, hospital staff, and patients.

Summary/Objective

The Radiologic Technologist position is responsible for conducting radiographic procedures using
imaging modalities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a healthcare setting. This role requires regular walking to various locationsaround the hospital. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequentlyexposed to fumes, or airborne particles and some mechanical equipment. The employee isoccasionally exposed to a variety of patient conditions and elements. The noise level ismoderate to quiet. Frequent exposures to destressed patients, families, and visitors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets,
and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing theduties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.This position requires standing, pushing, pulling, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping,
crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objectsand patients weighing over 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Working in dim lightingenvironment required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a PRN, as needed, position in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.Rotating shifts as well as holidays and weekends are required. Working during inclementweather will be required. Shifts may vary, but working hours may be up to approximately 12hours. Return time to the facility is 30 minutes (certain positions may be exempt).

As PRN, this position requires working at least two shifts per month and provide shift availability.
