Job summary

UofL Health seeks a Radiologic Tech to perform radiographic examinations per established protocols, ensuring accurate positioning, exposure technique, and safety. The technician prepares and administers contrast media per policy and assists radiologists with complex studies.

The role emphasizes radiation safety, patient education before and after exams, and collaboration with physicians and staff to ensure timely, quality imaging. Ongoing equipment and system proficiency is also required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of JRC-approved program in Radiologic Technology
• One year of experience as a general radiographer preferred but not required
• ARRT certification required within 3 months of hire
• KBMIRT temporary license required prior to start date
• BLS required

Responsibilities

• Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information pertinent to the examination, including correct patient identification and order verification
• Assesses patient to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure
• Performs pre and post exam patient education pertinent to exam being performed
• Produces images according to established protocols within the Diagnostic Imaging Department, at patients' bedside, ER, and surgery with a high degree of accuracy
• Demonstrates good radiation safety practices during radiographic examinations to include use of lead shields, collimation, and determining pregnancy status of women of childbearing years
• Prepares for and assists Physicians with intricate radiographic examinations
• Ensures examinations are performed, completed, and ready for physician interpretation
• Attends and participates in department staff meetings and in-services
• Maintains appropriate credentials and certifications related to clinical performance
• Performs other duties as assigned
