Job summary

Carle Health seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures and support radiology operations. You will work with imaging equipment, review orders, and assist Radiologists with case notes and imaging interpretation.

The role includes patient safety, contrast administration, and cross-training within the department. Ideal candidates hold an Associate’s degree or Radiologic Technology certificate, ARRT radiography registration within a year, and BLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days.
• ARRT registration in Radiography within 1 year.
• IEMA licensure: Radiologic Technologist – Radiography (Illinois).

Responsibilities

• Performs radiographic procedures following department protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
• Reviews cases with the radiologist when appropriate.
• Reviews labs and patient history to select correct exam.
• Administers IV and oral/rectal contrasts when needed.
• Recognizes and responds to adverse or allergic reactions.
• Sites pregnancy screening and testing when applicable.
• Verifies radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
• Transfers and verifies image data in PACS for Radiologist interpretation.
• Maintains imaging equipment and work area; manages supply inventories.

Sign-on Bonus Available! Relocation bonus available for 1yr+ experience and >50mi The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic general radiological procedures utilizing various imaging equipment to assist in diagnosis of disease and injuries.

Qualifications

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered in Radiography (R) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
• Education: Associate’s Degree: Related Field; Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology, Work Experience

Responsibilities

• Performs radiographic procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams in accordance with accreting bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines and as outlined in department protocols.
• Reviews cases with the radiologist when appropriate.
• Reviews labs and patient history to perform correct exam.
• Administers IV contrast and oral/rectal contrast when appropriate.
• Recognizes and responds to any adverse reactions or allergic reactions.
• Administers IV contrast material by means of existing IV line or by performing veni-puncture.
• Screens the patient for possibility of pregnancy and performs pregnancy testing if applicable.
• Responsible to review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
• Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
• Takes steps to acquire additional information if needed from the patient, ordering provider and/or Radiologist.
• Demonstrates acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and alignment.
• Reviews patient data for accuracy, quality and completeness.
• Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and provides necessary medical history and information for Radiologist interpretation.
• Utilizes the web servers and email systems to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
• Responsible for maintaining imaging equipment and workplace environment including maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area.
• Recognizes malfunctions and service needs and reports service needs in a timely manner.
• Ensures patient, visitor and environmental safety.
• Reports safety events immediately including those that are a near miss.
• Assists in instruction of students and new staff as necessary.
• May perform duties of Rad Tech Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
• Meets productivity levels as established by department benchmarking.
• Assists other areas during downtimes so to maintain productivity.
• Complies with other job descriptions of cross-trained modalities also performed within the department.
• Required secondary registries are not required for cross trained modalities at facility unless otherwise required by specific compliance, licensure, or accrediting bodies.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $28.18per hour - $47.06per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
