Job summary

gohealthuc is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform imaging procedures, collaborate with providers and medical staff, and support patient care within our Urgent Care settings.

You will apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, process patient paperwork, and assist with administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations. BLS and ARRT certification are required at hire.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
  • BLS and ARRT registration required at time of hire; state licensure as applicable.

Job Description

Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for performing and analyzing patient x-rays and reporting results to Medical Providers. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist will provide support to Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

Job Requirements
Education
  • High School Diploma required
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required
Work Experience
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
  • State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for x-ray services as needed
  • Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.
  • Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.
  • May need to push patient in a wheelchair
Patient Preparation and Rooming
  • Inform technical staff of patient flow.
  • Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit.
  • Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and elevate critical cases to the provider as needed.
  • Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to providers.
Administrative
  • Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts into patient files.
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care
