This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for performing and analyzing patient x-rays and reporting results to Medical Providers. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist will provide support to Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. **Job Requirements****Education*** High School Diploma required* Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required**Work Experience*** Experience in a clinical setting preferred**Required Licenses/Certifications*** Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).* American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.* State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).**Essential Functions*** Responsible for x-ray services as needed* Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.* Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.* May need to push patient in a wheelchair**Patient Preparation and Rooming*** Inform technical staff of patient flow.* Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit.* Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.* Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to providers.**Administrative*** Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.* Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care* Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed**Other responsibilities include:*** **Medical Team Support**: Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.* **Patient Care:** Explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering their questions.* **Patient Positioning:** Accurately positioning patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.* **Image Production:** Selecting proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images* **Equipment Maintenance:** Performing routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and managing necessary supplies.* **Radiation Safety:** Adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and implementing ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff.* **Documentation:** Maintaining accurate patient records and logging of completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks as required.* **Image Management:** Verifying image quality and ensuring images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.**Knowledge:**1. Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanicsand patient movement.3. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.**Skills:**1. Positioning patients properly for the X-ray procedure required. 2.
