Job summary

Wellstar Health System, Inc. seeks a Radiologic Technologist to support Region Four imaging services across Columbia County Medical Center and MCG Health Medical Center.

You will apply radiologic expertise to deliver safe, high-quality imaging while ensuring a supportive patient experience at each site. Requirements include 2+ years in a hospital radiology role, ARRT-R and BLS certifications, and completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting.
• ARRT-R (Radiography) certification.
• BLS – American Heart Association certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate imaging/radiographic equipment safely and competently, minimizing dose with ALARA.
• Disinfect and maintain rooms/equipment per infection control schedules; report issues promptly.
• Obtain clinical history and verify orders; use two patient identifiers for exams.
• Explain procedures and prep using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety throughout visits.
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol with proper venipuncture techniques.
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as needed.
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability and re-acquire if needed; finalize studies in RIS/PACS.

Job Summary

• The Wellstar Diagnostic Float Team (WEST Team) supports a variety of imaging services across our facilities. Region Four includes

  Columbia County Medical Center and MCG Health Medical Center.

• As a Radiologic Technologist for Region Four, you will apply your expertise to deliver safe, high-quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at each location you serve.

Pay

• In return for stepping in where you’re needed most, Float Pool members earn a higher base rate and may be eligible for a float incentive.

Required Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting

Certifications

• ARRT-R (Radiography)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association

Core Responsibilities

• Operate imaging/radiographic equipment safely and competently, adjusting technique to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA).

• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms/equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly.

• Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam.

• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety.

• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit.

• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable.

• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated.

• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat/correct as needed and release patients appropriately.

• Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS/PACS (including transfers/retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed).

• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain/restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required.

• Organize daily workflow to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists/modalities to support department flow.

• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor.
