Job Description

The RT(R), with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The RT(R) functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of practice. The RT(R) demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.

Shift & Schedule:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

• Practices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts, uses equipmentand accessories consistent with the purposes for which they were designed, and employsprocedures and techniques appropriately


• Assesses situations; exercises care, discretion, and judgment; assumes responsibility forprofessional decisions; and acts in the best interest of the patient.


• Acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent informationfor the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient and recognizes thatinterpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice for the profession


• The radiologic technologist uses equipment and accessories, employs techniques andprocedures, performs services in accordance with an accepted standard of practice, anddemonstrates expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, self, and othermembers of the healthcare team


• The Radiology Career Ladder Radiology Career Ladder Policy is designed to recognizeprofessional excellence in relation to imaging. The policy outlines the process by whichthe employee will be evaluated to ensure that the employee is meeting minimum job levelrequirements to maintain their current level on the career ladder, a mechanism for theemployee to advance up the ladder or for management to adjust their level down if theemployee does not meet the minimum requirements for their current level. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Graduate of an accredited program of radiologic technology or trained in a hospital-based program that’s AMA approved.

· ARRT registered or eligible – ARRT must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

· Texas Medical Board license for Radiologic Technologists or in process of obtaining.

· Total Joint & Spine Center initial and annual education: 1.5 hours
