The Cardiovascular Care Group in Westfield, NJ is seeking a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) to join the Special Procedures team. The role performs scrub assistance and operates fluoroscopy equipment in the procedure suite while maintaining patient safety and sterility.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years as an x-ray tech with vascular surgery experience, strong radiation safety skills, and a professional, team-oriented approach to high-pressure environments. Day shift; benefits included.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff in opening sterile supplies and preparing for each procedure.
• Set up table, instruments and supplies according to the procedure need.
• Scrub, gown and glove in accordance with standards.
• Anticipate and assist surgeons according to prescribed standards.
• Maintain aseptic technique in delivery of care to patients.
• Decontaminate equipment and clean the room per policy.
• Operate department equipment (C- arm, ultrasound, catheters) and maintain par levels.
• Turn on all equipment and prepare patient images for the day.
• Stock the procedure suite at end of day.
• Assist in non-critical patient care under RN/Doctor direction.
• Handle PHI per HIPAA guidelines and participate in QA/Radiation Safety initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

With New Jersey offices in Essex, Passaic, Union, Morris, Monmouth, and Mercer counties, the Group is able to deliver care in both office-based and hospital settings. The Vein Institute provides comprehensive care to patients with venous disease.

Job Summary:

The Special Procedures Technician provides scrub assistance and operates fluoroscopy equipment within the procedure suite.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist nursing staff in opening sterile supplies and preparing for each procedure.
• Sets up table, instruments and supplies according to need of procedure.
• Scrubs, gowns and gloves in accordance with AORN standards.
• Anticipates and assists surgeons according to prescribed standards.
• Cost conscious in utilization of supplies for procedures
• Applies and maintains the aseptic technique in delivery of care to patients
• Assists in application of dressings as needed.
• Decontaminates all equipment and instruments; cleans room per TCVCG policy/procedures.
• Maintains and operates all departmental equipment necessary for patient care (i.e. C- arm, ultrasound, various catheters); maintains par levels of equipment
• Turn on ALL equipment (C-Arm, Laptop, Autoclave)
• Gather that day’s patient images (Usually print the day before/Down time)
• Open Angio tray and drop equipment/Set Up
• At the end of the day, stock procedure suite room
• Change garbage; set up for next patient
• Assists in non-critical patient care under the direction of the RN / Doctor.
• Handles protected health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Participates in Quality Improvement Program and initiatives, including but not limited to Radiation Safety
• Performs other duties as assigned; seeks guidance and direction when needed.

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 4+ years as an x-ray tech, with direct experience in vascular surgery
• Maintains a professional appearance; takes pride and ownership of work and works in a cooperative, team-oriented manner
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to handle shifting priorities
• Competency in radiation safety
• Possesses the physical ability and perceptive acuity (e.g. visual, hearing) to perform all direct and indirect care functions.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited surgical tech program or radiography program, or equivalent knowledge gained by experience
• BLS certification preferred
