Job summary

Tennessee Oncology is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to deliver imaging and procedural support in a fast-paced clinical setting. You will assist with vascular procedures, maintain sterile technique, and ensure accurate documentation across PACS/EMR systems.

The role requires ARRT or CCIRCIS certification and at least two years in a cath lab or interventional radiology environment, with BLS and ACLS in place at hire. Strong communication and patient education skills are essential.

Job Description:

The Radiologic Technologist delivers exceptional customer service and aids procedural information to all patients and visitors. Responsibilities include scrubbing procedures, performing tests, entering orders, and carrying out other tasks as needed to support the department’s operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs radiologic technologist duties for vascular procedures, ensuring sterile technique and continuous physician support to maintain safety and efficiency. Responsibilities include angiography of the extremities, bone marrow biopsies, and venous studies—covering patient prep, imaging guidance, contrast administration, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Apply comprehensive understanding of radiographic imaging techniques and patient physiological monitoring during procedures to ensure accurate and safe outcomes.
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment for the administration of contrast materials, monitoring for adverse reactions and following all protocols.
• Consistently maintain sterile fields and follow infection control practices during all procedures.
• Clearly explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and address concerns expressed by patients and their families to ensure understanding and comfort.
• Accurately input, update, and manage patient information in PACS, ECW, and other electronic systems, documenting procedures, and patient status in real time.
• Obtain and verify medical information from referring providers, patients, and insurance companies to support proper scheduling, documentation, and billing.
• Safely transport patients as needed. Assist in training and mentoring new staff members to support team development and departmental efficiency.
• Monitor, reorder, and restock materials and supplies in Procedure Rooms 1 and 2 to maintain procedural readiness.
• Provide administrative or clinical support as requested by leadership to ensure the smooth functioning of daily operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of radiographic imaging techniques, vascular procedures, and sterile technique in an interventional or procedural setting.
• Strong technical skills in operating imaging equipment, assisting with procedures, and administering contrast materials safely.
• Ability to monitor patient condition and recognize adverse reactions or changes during procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills with proficiency in PACS, EMR, and imaging systems.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to support physicians, educate patients, and collaborate in a fast-paced clinical environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)/Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a Cath Lab, Special Procedures, or Interventional Radiology setting is required.
• BLS certification is required at the time of hire.
• ACLS certification is required at the time of hire.
• Strong communication, patient education, and customer service skills are required.
• Prior experience with PACS systems and vascular C-arms is strongly preferred.
• Experience with vascular and general surgery procedures is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical, team-based environment is essential.
• Knowledge of biohazard management.

PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time
• Lifting objects, possibly weights more than 30 pounds.

• Ability to assist and support patients in transfer from exam rooms, out of wheelchairs, onto exam tables, during the exam process, etc.
