Job summary

SouthStar is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to prepare for and perform standard x-ray examinations using CR and DR equipment, following provider orders and safety standards. The ideal candidate is energetic, eager to learn, and has a passion for patient care.

Responsibilities include blood draws, vital signs, histories, injections and vaccines, exam room prep, and image storage. Requires accreditation, state licensure, and BLS; new graduates encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
• Current state Radiologic Technologist licensure and BLS certification.
• Experience preferred; new graduates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Follow prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
• Position patients and operate x-ray equipment to obtain diagnostic images.
• Use shielding protocols to protect patients and staff.
• Prepare patients for examination, take vital signs and histories, and provide care.
• Perform blood draws and administer injections and vaccines.
• Prepare exam/treatment rooms and maintain equipment and supplies.
• Select radiation exposure according to exam specifications.
• Use CR and DR systems to capture and store images.
• Examine images for density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.

The Radiologic Technologist p repares for and performs standard x-ray examinations utilizing x-ray equipment, while using proper technique and positioning per provider orders. The ideal Rad Tech is energetic, eager to learn, has a positive attitude and above all else, has a passion for patient care! The Rad Tech will also be responsible for performing blood draws, taking vital signs, inputting medical histories, administering medication injections and vaccines as well as assisting providers in medical procedures.

Mandatory Functions and Responsibilities:

• Follow prescribed safety standards in operating all required radiologic equipment
• Experience with positioning patients and x-ray equipment to achieve desired diagnostic image
• Knowledge and experience with appropriate shielding protocols
• Prepare patients for examination, taking vital signs and history, and provides treatment as applicable
• Performs blood draws and administers medication injections and vaccines.
• Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, setup, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures
• Select length and intensity of radiation exposure on individual patient basis or to specification of examination
• Use of CR and DR systems
• Examine images for properties such as density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion
• Send and store images
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program required
• Certification/License: Current state Radiologic Technologist licensure.Current BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
• Experience: Prior Radiologic Technologist experience (preferred), however new graduates are encouraged to apply
