Job Description
The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/orMedical Assistants with the examination and treatment ofUPMC-GoHealthUrgentCare patients. This roleis responsible forproviding a variety oftechnical procedures andapplyingprescribed ionizing radiation for radiologicdiagnosis for ourUPMC-GoHealthUrgent Care patients. This roleis responsibleforperforming and analyzing patient x-rays and reporting results toMedical Providers.Additionalresponsibilities include providingadministrative support to ensure efficient operation ofUPMC-GoHealthUrgentCare Centers. In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist willprovide support to Medical Providers, MedicalAssistants,and patientsthrough a variety of tasks related to patient care management,organization,and communication.
Job Requirements
Education
- High School Diplomarequired
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist programrequired
Work Experience
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)requiredat the time of hire, obtainedthrough the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)registrationrequiredat time of hire.
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist isrequiredat thetime of hire (if applicable by state law).
Essential Functions
- Responsible for x-ray services as needed
- Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray servicesfor patients by applying x-ray energy toassistin diagnosis or treatmentof patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.
- Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipmentand protected during use.

Patient Preparation and Rooming
- Inform technical staff of patient flow.
- Prepare patients for examination, which includes conductinginterviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirmpurpose of visit.
- Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight,temperature, etc.) for vital signs and elevate critical cases tothe provideras needed.
- Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis,ECG, HCG); and provide patient information toproviders.
Administrative
- Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts topatient files.
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care
- Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controlsand calibration of equipment;maintainQuality Assurance/Quality Controllogs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance,andsubmitrepair tickets as needed
