Fairview Health Services is hiring a X-ray Technologist to join our Radiology department at our M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital location in Edina, MN.

The X-ray Technologist provides services to patients and physicians through the creation of high-quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.7 FTE (56 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours primarily on the day shift. Included is a weekend rotation every 6th week.

This position is eligible for a new hire sign on bonus of up to $7,000!

Southdale offers 24/7 Imaging services to Inpatient Units and Emergency patients. The position in the General Radiology department would offer imaging care to in-patients, out-patients, emergent patients, as well as supporting cases in the OR. The technologists work collaboratively within the Imaging team and amongst varying levels of clinical practitioners.

Maintains patient care:

  • Performs examinations
  • Identifies relevant data from images accurately.
  • Communicates pertinent data clearly to the appropriate health care professional
  • Participates in crafting a culture of patient safety
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness
  • Verify patient identification and documentation
  • Connect with and educate patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam
  • Achieves quality diagnostic images through accurate patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol.

Ensures patient data integrity:

  • Accurately completes computer functions; edits, scheduling, billing, status changes and image transfers in a timely manner
  • Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving

Participates as an active team member:

  • Orients and mentors new employees and students
  • Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position
  • Cleans and maintains rooms and supplies
  • Provides coordinated services with customers and care partners to ensure high quality care.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment

Correctly operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines:

  • Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is working accurately.
  • Maintains a high standard of proficiency
  • Accepts new technology as it’s introduced into the facility
  • Participates in Quality Assurance testing as required by regulatory agencies and/or manufacturer recommendations

Requirements:

ARRT Certification/Registration

Basic Lifesaving Skills (BLS) - from American Red Cross or American Heart Association and current before hire date

Preferred:

1 year experience as a technologist
