Job summary

Summary:
  • This job description applies to Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital and Health and Wellness Center. However, tasks may differ based on location. This description reflects the performance of Diagnostic Imaging procedures on inpatients, outpatients, emergency room patients and operating room patients, utilizing clinical skills, knowledge and competencies of the Radiologic Technologist. Radiologic Technologists also perform DEXA imaging. Perform other duties deemed necessary to the operation of the radiology department.
Responsibilities:
    1. Maintain clinical competency in the Radiology Technologist position requirements.Clinical Proficiency: Explain procedure before start of exam and provide post-procedure instructions, as needed. Organize daily workload and assign priorities for flow of patients, inform patients of delays as they occur Coordinate patient management with other department sections to ensure proper work flow and completeness of results Follow guidelines for infection control, HIPPA, radiation protection and patient safety Identify radiographs with proper markers and patient ID along with documentation and scanned documents Administer preps, administer contrast agents, follow safety and regulatory guidelines Follow established protocols for all radiographic procedures Perform start-up and shut down procedures on equipment; maintain radiographic equipment, perform Quality Assurance/Quality control on all patient imaging equipment Be able to operate C-Arm and portable radiographic equipment 2. Provide patient care for all of our customers by performing x-ray procedures as prescribed by a provider in a safe and respectful manner.Patient care and verification: Verify patient ID and physician orders verbally Perform exams using ALARA techniques Obtain patient allergy and medical history for procedures, as needed Responsible for patient care and safety. Assist patients on and off the radiographic tables, immobilize, and monitor patients. Provide first aid when indicated. Ensure exam is completed and patient is discharged in a safe and timely manner Identify radiographs with proper markers and patient ID Scan and deliver completed paperwork into PACs. Send completed study via PACs to the radiologist for interpretation, checking that all notes and documents and a proper patient history has been completed. 3. Compile and maintain patient records and schedules while following HIPPADocumentation and Departmental Records: Maintain patient requests for exams until procedure is completed; record patient history in PACs. Be sure to track start and end times in Expanse for all procedures Utilize the hospital computer application to enter, view, and process patient exam data and changes. Maintain and update all records required by licensing/government agencies Perform start-up and shut down procedures on equipment; maintain equipment and accessories. Maintain plates and perform quality control. 4. Deliver/scan completed paperwork to the radiologist for interpretation and document applicable patient history.Completed Paperwork: Be familiar with clerical procedures for processing exam orders locating patient records and releasing patient records Create image copies for patients or providers as requested Scan all procedure requests and screening forms into PACs; create patient history in PACs and send images for interpretation. Knowledge of teleradiology equipment. 5. Ability to use a variety of equipment, including but not limited to Digital Radiography (DR), C-Arm, Computed Radiography (CR), Portable Radiography and PAC's while practicing. 6. Complete in a timely manner all required education, training and CEU's along with certification.
Credentials:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

  • Current BLS for technical staff.

  • Amer Registry Radiologic Tech (Required)

  • Must be ARRT certified or ARRT eligible and registered within one year of hire date.

Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

  • graduate from a JCERT accredited schoolmust satisfy all required continuing education requirements in a timely manner and renew their certifications before the end of their birth month to remain an active associate.experience and/or training in use of all general radiology equipment including portables, C-arm units, R&F, Teleradiology and PACS systems preferred
