Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

Using radiological (X‑ray) imaging equipment and standards under close to moderate supervision, the Registered Radiological Technologist prepares and performs procedures and tests used to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data. By interviewing and preparing patients with an in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and drives optimal care outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares and performs radiological (X‑ray) imaging.
  • Reads and comprehends imaging orders, engaging with physicians when orders are unclear, complex, or require deeper review; selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using knowledge of human anatomy.
  • Interviews patients to understand risk factors that may warrant a more in‑depth examination for safety.
  • Guides patients—some distressed—through their examination, applying subject‑matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam; sets expectations and calms patients for effective imaging.
  • Uploads imaging results into Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and records information into Electronic Medical Recordkeeping (EMR) system.
Required
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Science.
  • Registration as a Radiological Technologist from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Good understanding of human anatomy, established through education or experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting radiology orders.
  • Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Preferred
  • Experience working with EPIC.
