Job summary

CHS Children's Hospital and Health System, Inc. is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform outpatient and inpatient radiographic procedures using mobile and stationary equipment. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in radiology, and certification from a recognized school of Radiologic Technology.

The position includes a 7 days on, 7 days off work schedule, with weekday hours from 0800-1830 and weekend hours from 0730-1800. Eligible candidates will receive full benefits.

Job description

Job Summary

Performs outpatient and/or inpatient radiographic procedures using mobile and stationary equipment within the clinical setting of General Diagnostics, Fluoroscopy, Mobile Radiography, Emergency Radiography, and Mobile Radiographic and Fluoroscopic procedures in the Operating Room.

Essential Functions

• Assess patient age‑specific needs and provide appropriate care.
• Perform simple and complex radiographic procedures with minimal supervision.
• Accurately conduct examinations using stationary and mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies.
• Verify proper patient identification and exam orders to ensure correct imaging.
• Review the patient’s medical history and prior diagnostic tests to validate imaging needs.
• Ensure images are correctly identified with patient ID and lead markers.
• Ensure requisitions are properly completed with date, time, tech initials, number of images, and clinical history.
• Practice radiation protection by calculating and selecting proper technical factors based on patient age, condition, and suspected pathology.
• Effectively utilize beam‑limiting devices, protective apparel, and immobilization devices.
• Prepare exam rooms and X‑ray equipment in accordance with protocols, sterilization, and patient‑safety guidelines.
• Determine appropriate sequence and prioritize patient exams; coordinate with other departments as necessary.
• Maintain knowledge of institutional and TJC policies on patient safety.
• Orient and train new staff members in department procedures and equipment.
• Provide instruction and assist education of approved radiography students.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring supplies are not damaged or expired.
• Ensure proper functioning of suction machines and oxygen outlets in the work area.

Education

Completion of a certification program from a school of Radiologic Technology and an Associate’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree in radiology or an associated field of study is required.

• Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures, and operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment.

• Understanding of Children’s Wisconsin health‑care delivery system and its impact on patients and families.

Licenses and Certifications

• BLS‑Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required.
• License Radiographer (142) – State of Wisconsin required.
• ARRT – Radiography – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.

Patient Care Responsibility

This position works 7 days on and 7 days off with weekday hours of 0800‑1830 and weekend hours of 0730‑1800, and is eligible for full Children’s benefits.
