Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Delivers exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and reducing anxiety prior to imaging scans.
- Operates advanced X-Ray and Computed Tomography (CT) equipment to produce high-resolution medical imaging for physician diagnosis.
- Applies strict aseptic technique and safety protocols to prevent infection and maintain a sterile environment during clinical procedures.
- Enforces rigorous radiation safety standards to protect patients, staff, and visitors from unnecessary exposure.
- Performs safe venipuncture procedures to administer contrast media as required by specific imaging protocols.
- Manages digital image files using PACS and DICOM systems to ensure accurate record-keeping and seamless sharing with medical specialists.
- Collaborates with radiologists and attending physicians to review image quality and determine if additional scans are necessary.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Holds an associate degree or bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited educational program.
- Maintains a valid state license and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Experience
- Brings at least one year of hands-on experience working as a radiologic technologist in a hospital or outpatient clinic setting.
- Demonstrates proven proficiency in operating modern X-Ray and Computed Tomography (CT) systems.
Knowledge/Skills
- Possesses expert knowledge of medical imaging principles, radiation safety, and cross-sectional anatomy.
- Utilizes PACS and DICOM software efficiently to store, retrieve, and transmit patient diagnostic files.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to deliver compassionate patient care and communicate effectively with clinical teams.
- Executes precise venipuncture techniques while adhering to established healthcare regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Holds advanced ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT).
- Displays prior experience working in a high-volume emergency trauma center.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Stands, walks, and assists patients for extended periods during daily shift rotations.
- Lifts and positions patients safely using proper ergonomic techniques and assistive devices.
- Wears personal protective equipment, including lead aprons, for long durations in radiation-controlled areas.
- Adapts to a dynamic healthcare environment that includes handling emergency cases, rotating shifts, and taking on-call duties.
