Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is seeking a CT Technologist for a temporary assignment in Kentucky. The role involves performing CT imaging studies, preparing patients, and ensuring safety and quality. You will work with radiologists and nursing staff, handle contrast media, and maintain equipment.

Requires ARRT CT registration, state licensure, CPR, and an associate degree in radiology. On-call duties and a strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Radiology from an approved program is required.
  • ARRT registration and state licensure required.
  • CT registration required with CT registration obtained within eighteen (18) months.
  • CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain CT equipment and report issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Set up, calibrate, and adjust CT equipment according to examination requirements.
  • Assess patient condition and needs to ensure proper handling and preparation for procedures.
  • Explains imaging procedures and prepares patients for examinations.
  • Perform IV access using sterile technique and administers contrast media as appropriate.
  • Prepares and administers oral contrast agents as required for imaging procedures.
  • Reviews physician orders, patient history, and examination requests to ensure appropriate diagnostic testing.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and nursing units to facilitate accurate and timely examinations.
  • Produces high-quality diagnostic images while adhering to imaging protocols and standards.
  • Maintains inventory of contrast materials, supplies, and department resources.
  • Adheres to patient, employee, and radiation safety standards.
  • Assists in training department personnel and students in CT imaging procedures.
  • Participates in on-call coverage and is available to respond within established departmental timeframes.
  • Utilizes image transmission systems and related technology to support diagnostic services.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and patient positioning techniques.
  • Maintains competency in infection prevention, bloodborne pathogen, and airborne pathogen protocols.
  • Demonstrates proper use of personal protective equipment and safety practices.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Demonstrates professional, courteous, and respectful interactions with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and utilizes the appropriate chain of command when necessary.
  • Promotes teamwork and positive working relationships within and across departments.
  • Participates in staff meetings, required education, and committee activities as assigned.

Overview

Performs CT imaging studies in accordance with physician orders and departmental guidelines. Prepares and transports patients as necessary. Prepares imaging equipment, room, and images, as need for interpretation. Verifies and completes studies in RIS and PACS. Maintains Quality Control on Equipment as Instructed.

Education
  • Associate Degree in Radiology from an approved program required
Minimum Work Experience
  • Up to one (1) year of experience required
Licenses & Certifications
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required
  • State licensure required
  • Registered or Registry Eligible in Computed Tomography (CT) required, with CT registration obtained within eighteen (18) months
  • CPR certification required
