Job summary

Qualifications

  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in an approved school.
  • Registered ARRT R (Radiography).
  • Licensed as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in Florida.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Job Summary

The Radiographer Orthopedics HSS is responsible for producing quality radiographic images through knowledge of radiologic sciences while providing exceptional patient care with quality, respect, caring, and compassion.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Demonstrates competency in fluoroscopy during surgical procedures following state and federal radiation protection policies.
  • Produces images demonstrating a thorough knowledge of radiographic technique (collimation, ID markers, and patient demographics), anatomical positioning, equipment performance, and department positioning.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures with minimal exposure to self and patients.
  • Performs examinations efficiently with a repeat rate consistent with department standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of image critique sufficient to repeat images when indicated without direction.
  • Technologists demonstrate proper radiation safety and general practices for patient, self, and others.
  • Demonstrates caring, excellence, leadership, pride, teamwork, integrity, and center-wide standards for service.
  • Provides all aspects of patient care based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment of the patients.
  • Demonstrates competency using EMR and PACS.
  • Responsible for ensuring that proper maintenance of the x-ray machine is scheduled and performed as required.
  • Perform routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures and report any defects or problems directly to clinical engineering for quick resolution.
  • To be aware of own limitations in terms of expertise and experience and not to be afraid to ask for assistance or advice from others.
  • Must participate with in‑service training as needed and stay current with emerging methods and advancements in radiography and imaging procedures. To take an active role in ongoing professional development.
  • Evaluates radiographs for technical quality.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • High School or GED required.
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in an approved school.
  • Registered ARRT R (Radiography).
  • Licensed as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the State of Florida.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
