Job summary

Lumicity in San Francisco is seeking an experienced RF Systems Engineer to lead RF front-end validation for a groundbreaking consumer hardware product. This role has deep ownership over RF blocks, measurements, and test strategies to ensure reliability as the product scales.

You will work hands-on with VNAs, spectrum analyzers, RTSAs, power meters and related equipment, develop automated tests in Python, define pass/fail criteria, and collaborate across hardware, firmware, and manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years in RF, electrical, validation, product test, or manufacturing test engineering.
• Strong RF fundamentals including noise floor, IIP2/IIP3, P1dB, desense, and dynamic range.
• Hands-on experience with RF lab equipment: VNAs, spectrum analyzers, RTSAs, and power meters.
• Experience evaluating RF blocks (amplifiers, mixers, filters, PLLs, VCOs) for products.
• Develop automated tests or lab scripts in Python for RF measurements.
• Ability to define test matrices, pass/fail limits, and validation reports.
• Experience debugging hardware from prototype bring-up to production ramp.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced hardware environment.

We are working with company who are going to ship a consumer hardware product that will change the way every human interacts with their devices. They are backed by one of the best VC's in the world are looking for an RF Systems Engineer. Radar and RF is central to their product working correctly so this role is fundamentally important to the company and brings a large portion of ownership and scope.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.


• 5+ years of experience in RF, electrical, validation, product test, or manufacturing test engineering. Senior-level candidates typically bring deeper ownership across product ramps.


• Strong RF fundamentals, including noise floor, thermal noise, integrated noise, sensitivity, link budget, dynamic range, IIP2/IIP3, OIP2/OIP3, P1dB, compression, nonlinearities, blockers, leakage, and desense.


• Hands-on experience with RF lab equipment, such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers or real-time spectrum analyzers (RTSAs), signal generators, oscilloscopes, power meters, probers, programmable power supplies, and related calibrated measurement systems.


• Experience with component- and system-level evaluation of RF blocks, such as amplifiers, mixers, filters, couplers, splitters, PLLs, VCOs, and noise-sensitive receiver paths.


• Experience developing automated tests or lab scripts, preferably in Python or a similar language, for repeatable RF measurements and data capture.


• Ability to define test matrices, pass/fail limits, compliance matrices, and concise validation reports.


• Experience debugging hardware from prototype bring-up through production-intent builds and manufacturing ramp.


• Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced hardware development environment.

Strong candidates may also have:

• Familiarity with wireless connectivity test methods or standards, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, UWB, cellular call-box workflows, conducted and radiated RF testing, packet-level performance measurements, coexistence, sensitivity, and protocol-level RF validation.


• Experience with high-volume manufacturing test, RF calibration, test fixture bring-up, yield dashboards, or production data pipelines.


• Experience supporting EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot builds, and mass production alongside contract manufacturers or factory teams.


• Experience evaluating receiver sensitivity, noise figure, spur response, phase noise, harmonic rejection, isolation, and blocker performance.


• Experience with DFM/DFT reviews for RF hardware, including test access, shielding, grounding, layout sensitivities, and fixture repeatability.


• Ability to debug across RF, analog, mixed-signal, firmware, and test software boundaries.
