Job summary

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Radiation Oncology Physicist at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. The position is full time with a 40-hour week and a Monday–Friday schedule from 07:00 to 17:00, offering work/life balance in a structured setting.

Responsibilities include clinical support for equipment purchases, commissioning, QA, beam data, treatment planning collaboration, dose distribution calculations, and ensuring regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Physics required.
• ABR Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise for equipment selection, commissioning, and QA of radiation therapy equipment.
• Measure and analyze beam data; ensure accurate beam data in treatment planning system.
• Collaborate with treatment planning team to establish planning/delivery procedures.
• Direct determination of dose distributions and verify plans and dosimetry in patient charts.
• Ensure operation of EPID, Virtual Simulation, Tomotherapy, MLC, and HDR brachytherapy; meet safety standards.

Radiation Therapy Physicist

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Radiation Oncology Physicist at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Clinical scope:

• Provide clinical expertise with regard to the purchase of new radiation therapy treatment related equipment and upgrades of existing equipment. Provide clinical expertise for acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and periodic quality assurance of radiation therapy equipment.
• Measure and analyze beam data for the treatment machines and assure that beam and source data are correctly entered into the treatment planning system and that beam data is tabulated in a form that is usable by the radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and radiation oncologists.
• Work with other members of the treatment planning team to establish treatment planning and delivery procedures.
• Perform and direct the determination of radiation dose distributions for patients undergoing treatment. Ensure accuracy of the plans, dosimetry calculations, dose totals, and their documentation in patient's charts. This includes 3-Dimensional conformal radiotherapy planning and delivery.
• Ensure the function and the operation of the following technologies: Virtual Wedge,
• Electronic Portal Imaging Devices (EPID), Digital Reconstructed Radiographs, Virtual Simulation, and Multileaf Collimation, Tomotherapy, Stereotactic Radiation therapy and High Dose Rate Brachytherapy.
• Meet radiation monitoring, quality assurance, and safety requirements to ensure compliance with licensure requirements, hospital radiation safety regulations, and national standards of performance.
• Shall be accountable directly to the Chief of Radiation Oncology and be responsible for directing the Radiation Oncology Physics program. They shall act as a system administrator for the Radiation Oncology Information system.

Job Requirements

• BLS
• Medical Physicist (Radiation Oncology Physicist) shall be certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Medical Physics and enrolled in the ABR Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program
• shall have a minimum of a Master degree in Physics and be Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) for Therapeutic Medical Physics.
