Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Radiation Therapist for day-shift PRN coverage. You will apply ionizing radiation under a radiation oncologist's prescription, ensure precise dose delivery, and participate in treatment planning and safety protocols.

Ideal candidates hold ARRT RT(T) certification or eligibility, Indiana license, and current BLS. Responsibilities include patient care, scheduling, and mentoring students during rotations as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Registered RT(T) with ARRT or eligibility; must pass exam within 3 months of hire; RT(T) license required by Indiana Department of Health.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Extensive knowledge of radiation oncology technical aspects, equipment operation, treatment planning, and beam devices.

Responsibilities

  • Apply ionizing radiation to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist.
  • Ensure accurate dose delivery and reproduce treatment fields.
  • Participate in safety, quality control, and patient scheduling.
  • Mentor students or less experienced staff during rotations when needed.

This is a day-shift, PRN position for a Radiation Therapist with Monday–Friday shift availability.

Job Description

Responsible for applying ionizing radiation to patients for therapeutic purposes in accordance with the prescription and instruction of a radiation oncologist. Controls the exact amount of radiation to be administered locally, and reproduces treatment fields, ensuring that exposure is made only to prescribed areas. Requires high levels of quality control, safety, treatment planning and administration, patient care, and patient scheduling. May be asked to mentor those with less experience and/or students during clinical rotations.

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Registered RT (T) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Registry eligibility required. For Registry eligible candidates, candidate must pass exam within three months of hire date. RT (T) license as issued and required by the Indiana State Department of Health is required.
  • Requires current BLS certification.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of the technical aspects of radiation oncology; which includes the operation of various complex equipment, application mathematical computation for treatment planning and design production, and implementation of beam altering devices.
