Adventist Health Lodi Memorial in Lodi, CA is seeking a Radiation Therapist to administer ionizing irradiation to patients under physician prescriptions. The role requires delivering the prescribed daily dose with strict safety and protocol adherence, and preparing treatment rooms and equipment.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in radiological technology (Masters preferred) and active ARRT-T/RTT credentials; CPR/BLS and fluoroscopy permits are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree: Preferred.
  • Experience in radiologic technology: Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers the prescribed course of radiation therapy by checking prescription, diagnosis chart, and patient identification.
  • Prepares room and equipment for patient according to prescription or simulation regarding immobilization devices, etc.
  • Observes patients for unusual reactions and for signs and symptoms of developing complications during treatment.
  • Maintains a variety of records, including daily treatment charts and patient charts.
  • Provides clinical supervision and evaluates students' practical ability to perform procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Administers ionizing irradiation to patients in accordance with prescriptions and instructions from department physicians.


Job Requirements:


Education and Work Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in radiological technology or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Experience in radiologic technology: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:


  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy (AART-T) and Certification of Therapeutic Radiology Technology (RTT): Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
  • Fluoroscopy Permit from the state of practice, Department of Health Services: Preferred
  • ARRT-Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T): Required
  • Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certification (TRT): Required

Facility Specific License/Certifications:


  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Essential Functions:


  • Delivers the prescribed course of radiation therapy by checking prescription, diagnosis chart, and patient identification. Explains procedures to patient, means of communication during treatment, and basic treatment procedure. Delivers prescribed daily dose to patient, observing radiation safety measures for patient and personnel.
  • Prepares room and equipment for patient according to prescription or simulation regarding immobilization devices, etc., transfers patient to treatment couch, giving attention to the special needs of the patient.
  • Observes patients for unusual reactions and for signs and symptoms of developing complications during treatment, reporting reactions and complications to supervisor and department physician
  • Maintains a variety of records, including, records of daily treatment; maintains and regularly reviews patient charts to eliminate errors and to ensure that blood counts and special reports are properly recorded.
  • Provides clinical supervision and evaluates students' practical ability to perform procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
