Job summary

ECU Health Medical Center in North Carolina seeks a Radiation Therapist to calibrate and set up therapy equipment and carefully position patients to deliver precise doses to tumors while minimizing exposure to surrounding tissues.

The role includes maintaining daily QA on linear accelerators and related equipment, and mentoring students and residents in radiation therapy techniques, with opportunities to contribute to cancer research projects. PRN as needed, Monday–Friday 7:30am–5:00pm.

Qualifications

• Current ARRT certification in Radiology.
• BLS certification required.
• Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program.

Job description

Position Summary

These professionals calibrate and set up radiation therapy equipment and position patients to ensure accurate treatments and pinpoint radiation doses to tumor areas, minimizing exposure to normal and critical surrounding structures. This work must be performed with the highest level of accuracy to achieve the expected treatment outcome.
The Radiation Therapists are accountable for maintaining daily quality assurance measures on the linear accelerators and other departmental equipment.
In addition, the Radiation Therapists instruct radiation therapy students, medical physics graduate students, medical residents, and other healthcare providers on the operation of radiation therapy machines and explain and demonstrate specific procedures and techniques; and provide assistance on cancer research projects.

Minimum Requirements

• Current RT (R) (T) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology
• American Heart Association BLS Certification
• Associate Degree or higher, or equivalent training through completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
• 0-3 years Radiation Therapist experience
• Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and
  Accreditation and certification eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy
  Technology.
• All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Clinical Ladder Pay Range

$33.08 - $48.22
