Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking a Radiation Therapist at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. This temporary staffing role delivers prescribed treatments, operates CT simulators and linear accelerators, and supports patient care under Radiation Oncologist guidance.

Schedule is Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The position offers a competitive pay rate and exposure to cutting-edge medical technology within a world-class health system.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school/GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
• ARRT registration required.
• CPR BLS certification required.
• 2 years of inpatient experience with linear accelerators, CT simulators, and related equipment.
• Elekta experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately delivers prescribed radiation therapy per treatment plan, protocols, and safety standards with minimal supervision
• Confirms patient identity, reviews treatment charts, and verifies setup, dosing, and imaging prior to treatment
• Operates linear accelerators, CT simulators, diode systems, QA dosimeters, and related computer systems
• Maintains accurate treatment records, billing documentation, and completes required electronic or written forms
• Follows all radiation safety, infection control, and departmental regulatory standards
• Reports equipment issues or supply needs and assists with departmental cleanliness and organization
• Demonstrates professionalism, patient-centered care, flexibility with scheduling, and teamwork across the department

Position Overview:Prepares and delivers prescribed radiation therapy treatments in accordance with Radiation Oncologist instructions. Operates radiation oncology equipment including CT simulators, linear accelerators, QA dosimeters, and related computer systems. Ensures accurate treatment delivery by following departmental protocols, safety standards, and best practices with minimal supervision. Experience with Elekta equipment is a plus.

Location: Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC.

Schedule: Mon-Fri. 7 AM - 5:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Accurately delivers prescribed radiation therapy per treatment plan, protocols, and safety standards with minimal supervision
• Confirms patient identity, reviews treatment charts, and verifies setup, dosing, and imaging prior to treatment
• Prepares treatment rooms and equipment and positions patients according to approved treatment plans
• Operates linear accelerators, CT simulators, diode systems, QA dosimeters, and related computer systems
• Communicates treatment procedures, expectations, and Radiation Oncologist guidance to patients
• Monitors patients during treatment using visual and audio systems and responds to side effects or emergencies as needed
• Administers contrast media as required and obtains/document patient history related to treatment or contrast use
• Maintains accurate treatment records, billing documentation, and completes required electronic or written forms
• Performs port films, localization verification, and supports simulation procedures under physician direction
• Follows all radiation safety, infection control, and departmental regulatory standards
• Reports equipment issues or supply needs and assists with departmental cleanliness and organization
• Demonstrates professionalism, patient-centered care, flexibility with scheduling, and teamwork across the department

Qualifications

• Completion of high school/GED required but Bachelors degree preferred
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• CPR BLS certification required
• 2 years of relevant experience in an inpatient setting. Functional knowledge of, linear accelerators, CT simulator, computer equipment, printers, various radiation dosimeters, diode system, automatic film processors.
• Elekta Experience is preferred
