Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Towson, MD seeks a Radiation Therapist to deliver prescribed radiation treatments, coordinate care with oncologists and nursing staff, and uphold a high standard of patient comfort. You will review treatment charts, configure beam parameters, ensure proper setup, perform quality assurance, document daily treatments, and participate in chart rounds and QA meetings.

Requirements include ARRT registration, Maryland licensure, Heart Saver CPR, and a 2‑year radiation therapy

Qualifications

  • 2 year training in radiation therapy.
  • ARRT certification and Maryland license.
  • CPR certification (Heart Saver).

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patients' treatment charts for prescription, monitor units, prescribed dose and set up parameters to accurately deliver a course of radiation therapy.
  • Maintains an atmosphere of caring, concern, and support for patients, visitors, medical staff, and coworkers on a consistent basis.
  • Delivers radiation treatment according to written prescription and treatment plan; reports deviations to chief therapist/physicist.
  • Assures the quality and accuracy of treatment delivery with proper documentation of treatment records.
  • Explains procedures to patient and family; refers medical questions to appropriate personnel.
  • Participates in rotating on-call for emergency treatment coverage on weekends.
  • Performs quality assurance of the treatment machine under supervision; supports daily treatment scheduling.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviews patients' treatment charts for prescription, monitor units, prescribed dose and set up parameters to accurately deliver a course of radiation therapy
  • Maintains an atmosphere of caring, concern, and support for patients, visitors, medial staff, and coworkers on a consistent basis
  • Delivers radiation treatment according to written prescription and treatment plan. Provides safety and patient care through the consistent practice of departmental procedures for treatment administration. Recognized deviation from prescribed treatment delivery and reports all deviations to the chief therapist/ physicist
  • Assures the quality of treatment delivery throughout the complete and accurate documentation of treatment records
  • Explains treatment procedures to patient and/or family. Refers medical questions to appropriate personnel
  • Performs as needed in all treatment procedures
  • Assumes responsibility for quality assurance of the treatment machine under the direction of the medical physicist and department manager
  • Produces electronic portal images/imaging as scheduled Adjust treatment fields as indicated. Completes the daily treatment schedule
  • Maintains an accurate record of procedures including billing information and codes
  • Attends chart rounds and or QI meetings at the direction of the Chief Therapist
  • Provides rotating on call for treatment of emergency patients Saturday and Sunday from 7:30am – 4:00pm. Flexibility to work outside of regularly scheduled office hours to provide patient care
  • Participate in RQI program at GBMC hospital

Pay Range

$36.37 - $59.64 Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
