Job summary

Methodist Hospital is seeking a Radiation Therapist to join our team. The staff therapist administers ionizing radiation per the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription, ensuring accurate delivery and patient comfort with imaging and verification systems.

The role supports a schedule of Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri with early to mid-morning shifts and occasional weekend calls. Candidates must complete at least 2 academic years in Radiation Therapy and achieve ARRT (T) certification within 6 months of hire,

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 2 academic years of post-secondary education in Radiation Therapy.
• Board eligible and ARRT (T) Certification within 6 months of hire; CEU credits required.
• Experience with ARIA, Varian TrueBeam, Varian 21ix with onboard imaging is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer ionizing radiation to patients per Radiation Oncologist prescription.
• Position patients and use imaging/verification systems to ensure accurate treatment delivery.
• Document treatment sessions and communicate with the oncology team regarding patient status.

Position Summary:

The staff Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instruction of the Radiation Oncologist.

Work Schedule:

Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri

Varying start times, but 8-hour shifts will typically occur between 6:30am - 4:30pm (possible shifts: 6:30am-3:00pm, 7:00am-3:30pm, 7:30am-4:00pm, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Occasional weekend and holiday call required.

Required Qualifications:

• Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
  • Completion of at least 2 academic years of post-secondary education in the field of Radiation Therapy.
• Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
  • Board eligible and ARRT (T) Certification successfully completed within 6 months of hire required.
  • Must maintain CEU credits as required by the ARRT.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • ARIA Record and verify system, Varian TrueBeam, Varian 21ix with onboard imaging, Phillips Big Bore CT simulator, Huestis Block Cutter
