Responsibilities

Job Title: Radiation Therapist (Full‑Time, Day shift) – RWJ Hamilton, One Hamilton Health Place, Hamilton, NJ 08619. Category: Radiology / Imaging / Radiation. Pay range: $55.83 – $68.37 per hour. Status: Full‑Time.

Overview

At RWJBarnabas Health, the Radiation Therapist is instrumental in patient care and clinical excellence. You ensure radiation treatments are safely and accurately administered to cancer patients, coordinate complex workflows, manage imaging technologies, maintain therapy records, and provide compassionate support to patients and families.

Typical Day

• Administers prescribed radiation therapy safely, accurately, and efficiently in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Performs precise clinical simulations and patient positioning using custom immobilization devices.
• Executes advanced imaging protocols using MV, KV, and CBCT systems to verify treatment alignment.
• Utilizes AlignRT surface guidance technology to monitor patient positioning and ensure real‑time tracking accuracy.
• Operates the Linear Accelerator, CT Simulator, and related oncological equipment with technical proficiency.
• Verifies treatment plan calculations, prescriptions, and simulation parameters before radiation delivery.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and legally compliant electronic therapy records for each patient.
• Schedules patient appointments to optimize departmental workflow and reduce wait times.
• Participates in daily chart rounds and performance‑improvement initiatives to elevate quality of care.
• Collaborates with physicians, dosimetrists, and physics staff to resolve clinical discrepancies quickly.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved Radiation Therapy Technology program; bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
• Registered Radiation Therapist credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
• Active and valid Radiation Therapist license from the State of New Jersey required.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a practicing Radiation Therapist preferred.
• Strong time‑management skills and flexibility to adapt to changing departmental needs.
