Job summary

Niowave, Inc. in Lansing, MI seeks a technically trained professional to support production of medical radioisotopes. You will handle radioactive materials, conduct surveys, maintain detectors, assist in waste handling, and ensure regulatory compliance.

You'll work with a multidisciplinary team, maintain records, support R&D and production, and operate in a cGMP environment with 24/7/365 shifts and travel between Lansing locations.

Qualifications

  • Technical training in nuclear engineering or related field is required.
  • Experience in chemical laboratory or radiological facility is preferred.
  • Understanding of radioactive decay and radiation safety is essential.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., cGMP) is expected.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills demonstrated in MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Handles sealed and unsealed radioactive materials in production settings.
  • Conducts radiological contamination surveys and maintains detectors.
  • Assists in packaging, characterization, and disposition of radioactive waste.
  • Supports regulatory compliance activities and quality training.
  • Maintains records in a comprehensive, reproducible manner.
  • Manages dosimetry exchanges and records.
  • Contributes to inventory management of radioactive and non-radioactive materials.
  • Supports Production and R&D teams in handling radioactive materials.
  • Participates in lab procedures and coordination of experiments.
  • Ensures adherence to cGMP practices and continuous improvements.

What You Can Expect To Work On…

This position plays a key role in the production of various medical radioisotopes using extraction methods developed at Niowave. The products will be shipped around the world for use in cancer therapies. Some of the daily activities include:

  • Handles sealed and unsealed forms of radioactive material
  • Conducts radiological contamination surveys
  • Maintains radiation detectors
  • Assists in packaging, characterization, and disposition of radioactive waste
  • Participates in regulatory compliance activities
  • Participates in the coordination of experiments or procedures in a laboratory setting
  • Maintains records in a comprehensive, reproducible, and accurate manner.
  • Manages dosimetry exchanges and records
  • Maintains compliance with cGMP practices, participating in quality training and event retrospectives
  • Contributes to inventory management, including radioactive and non-radioactive materials
  • Supports Production and R&D staff in procedures involving radioactive material handling
What You Need To Succeed…
  • Technical training in nuclear engineering, radiological control technician, health physics technician, applied physics, or related field
  • 1 year or more of relevant industry experience:
    • Working in a chemical laboratory, radiological facility, or related field/industry
    • Solid understanding of radioactive decay and radiation safety
    • Radioactive material management
    • Ongoing/routine production
    • Working within a regulated industry (e.g. cGMP)

  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience:
    • Working in a chemical laboratory, radiological facility, or related field/industry
    • Solid understanding of radioactive decay and radiation safety
    • Radioactive material management
    • Ongoing/routine production
    • Working within a regulated industry (e.g. cGMP)
    • Trained forklift operator
    • National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists certification
    • Familiar with Quality Management System for control of documentation and procedures
    • Formal training/application of Project Management
Other Things To Know…
  • Full‑time position
  • The company’s standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts
  • This position will be assigned to regular working hours that support 24/7/365 production
  • Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the role
