POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for ensuring the performance of radiological imaging equipment including but not limited to various radiographic, fluoroscopic and CT units with CR reader/monitor by use of noninvasive test equipment in order to assess image quality and patient radiation exposure/dose.

CORE FUNCTIONS

• Operates radiological imaging equipment including, but not limited to: radiation survey meter, Keithley x-ray QC service kit, RadCal x-ray measurement kit, digital KVP meter, various test phantoms, collimator tool and an electrical leakage meter. Assures adheres to applicable Federal and State regulations. Evaluates image quality and equipment performance and inspects mechanical aspects of the x-ray equipment to identify potential areas of concern.
• Collects technical data for estimating patient radiation exposure/dosage from clinical radiation procedures.
• Prepares quality control reports which includes detailing discrepancies or problems identified. Informs appropriate internal staff when equipment requires immediate or future service.
• Completes facility radiation level surveys and prepares survey reports for newly installed x-ray equipment to ensure the adequacy of structure radiation shielding.
• Participates in special projects and activities such as new equipment acceptance testing, patient radiation dose measurement, and/or other applicable items as needed.
• This position has system-wide responsibility for performing diagnostic radiological physics quality control and regulatory compliance reporting. Prepares detailed and complex quality control reports, which are legal documents, for regulatory agencies and national accreditation organizations.
