Raytheon's Naval Airborne Systems (NAS), a sub strategic business unit within Naval Power, is seeking a Radar Senior Principal Systems Engineer
To provide radar expertise and technical analysis across multiple programs and Internal Research and Development (IRAD) efforts supporting the Advanced Sensor Programs. This position resides within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities Center, aligned to the Airborne Surveillance RF department. This is a full‑time, on-site position located in Plano, Texas.
What You Will Do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the USN customer and USG scientists regarding new algorithms and capability improvements to the AAS system
- Responsible for overall mode development (SAR, ISAR, MTI and Tracking), provide leadership to a small team of radar analysts, and support the chief engineer and lead systems engineer.
- Radar performance analysis, waveform design, system capability investigations, trade study generation, statistical modeling, performance predictions, algorithm development, data analysis for complex systems and management of SW release content to the USN fleet
- Conduct and/or participate in customer and/or program presentations, and apply technical knowledge to develop novel radar waveforms and innovative work products
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience and/or academic experience in radar development
- MTI and Tracking algorithms and methodologies to develop new capabilities for the AAS system
- Radar mode/skill development (SAR, ISAR, MTI and Tracking) including waveforms, algorithms, and radar system integration
- UNIX/Linux and demonstrated computer programming skills in C or C++ and using MATLAB or Python for data analysis
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required and gain program clearance.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

- Security Clearance Status: Active and existing security clearance required after day 1
Qualifications We Prefer
- Active Top Secret clearance
- Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline
- Development and troubleshooting of radar and RF hardware
- Radar test planning and associated processes
- Experience managing a small team of at least 5 people.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and provide SME-level guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the algorithm engineering group.
