Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Warfare Systems at Wright Patterson AFB seeks a mid-level engineer to assist co-development and design analysis of radar systems. You’ll work with multi-disciplinary teams in an agile environment to solve radar processing challenges and contribute to system-of-systems integration.

Requirements include 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's, or 3 years with a Master's, strong communication, and the ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance and TS/SCI

Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years with Masters; 0 with PhD; or 9 years with HS diploma.
  • 3+ years of experience in Radar or RF systems.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter who researches, learns, and delivers while anticipating the play.
  • Team player with willingness to share knowledge with junior engineers.
  • CLEARANCE: Minimum Secret clearance required to start; TS/SCI eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Propose, research, develop, and document radar processing and self-protection solutions via modeling and simulation.
  • Interact with sponsors and customers to understand priorities, share results, and propose new concepts.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchanges, and program status meetings as presenter or reviewer.
  • Provide design feedback and solutions to deficiencies during reviews and meetings.
  • Participate in DoD and vendor location collaboration events.

Job Description

Candidate will assist with co-development and design analysis activities of multiple advanced, first-of-a-kind, ground-based radar systems in collaboration with partner vendors. The candidate must be able to solve problems creatively, communicate effectively, and proactively engage in technical decision making to achieve objectives. This individual will be a team player and work well with technical professionals in an active, agile environment. The position requires knowledge and experience ranging from radar backend processing models to a complex, system-of-systems radar within a multi-discipline team.

This position is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) and is within a commutable distance from Beavercreek, Fairborn, Dayton, and Riverside.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Propose, research, develop, and document realizable solutions from modeling and simulation of radar processing and self-protection techniques
  • Interact with program sponsors and customers to understand program priorities, share analysis results, and introduce new concepts
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchanges, working groups, and program status meetings, either as a presenter or as a reviewer
  • Provide critical design feedback and offer potential solutions to any design deficiencies during design reviews, technical interchanges, working groups, and program status meetings
  • Participate in meetings and collaboration events at DoD and vendor locations
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Radar or RF systems
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter – takes the initiative to research, learn, and deliver. Anticipates the play.
  • Team player – humble, collaborative, focused on making sure the entire team succeeds, wiliness to share knowledge with junior engineers
  • CLEARANCE: Minimum Secret clearance is required to start
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with advanced security checks
Preferred Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience scripting and coding signal processing and radar domain problems with Python, MATLAB and MATLAB Toolboxes
  • 3+ years of experience with analog, digital, and Radar/RF electronic components, antennas, phased arrays, digital radar
  • 3+ years of experience with RF test equipment
Physical Requirements

Office or industrial environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
