Qualifications

• ARRT certification required for Diagnostic Supervisor; ARRT Mammography/CT/MRI as applicable.
• Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology recognized by the ARRT.
• Minimum 3 years of technical radiology experience; 1 year lead tech experience preferred.
• Experience in an academic medical center is a plus; Bachelor's or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day workflow for assigned radiology area to ensure ALARA, quality imaging, safety, and patient care.
• Develop staff education materials and competencies; provide education to staff, students, residents, and learners.
• Collaborate with modality managers and lead technologists to maintain efficient, high-quality, cost-effective operations.
• Ensure compliance with VCUHS policies; lead staffing and coverage for weekends and after-hours as needed.

Terms and Conditions apply\*\* The Radiology Technologist Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision for an assigned Radiology area (e.g. Diagnostic, Breast Imaging, Stony Point, CT/MRI, 3D lab) to include STAR Service, legal and regulatory compliance, clinical operations, human resources, safety & quality, customer service, leadership, and fiscal responsibility. The Radiology Technologist Supervisor ensures that all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed by qualified and competent staff, are of the highest quality achievable and follow the radiation safety principles of ALARA, ACR Guidelines for imaging practices, and ACR Guidelines for MRI Safety, if applicable.Ensure compliance with VCU and VCUHS policies and procedures. The Radiology Technologist Supervisor works directly with lead technologists and front line staff to solve problems and reduce barriers to success. This job works within the Scope of Practice of his/her specialty. The scope of Practice by specialty is described in the Staff Technologist job description for each specialty. This job also maintains technical competency in all areas of responsibility. The Radiology Technologist Supervisor implements new initiatives, programs and policies.Work collaboratively with other Radiology Supervisors, Mangers, Faculty and staff to ensure a high level departmental safety, quality, and teamwork.Report to the Modality Manager and is responsible for the clinical functions and processes for assigned Radiology area. Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or closely related field from an accredited program is preferred. Advice and guidance sought from Manager on an as needed situational basis and when there is a major impact on activity of the modality. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): All team members in assigned modality report to this position; day to day workflow responsibilities may be delegated as appropriate. Supervisors are expected to cover unplanned absences for staff that may occur on any shift, as needed.
