Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to provide direct patient care services and perform diagnostic radiologic techniques. The role involves working in both inpatient and outpatient settings under the supervision of a Senior Radiologic Technologist.

The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree from an accredited radiological program, must be registered by the ARRT, and possess a license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively are essential.

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range: $26.88 - $43.68. Please note that the final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Schedule Details: Friday, Holidays - Every Other Holiday, Monday, Saturday, Sunday through Saturday, Thursday, Wednesday

Scheduled Hours: 3p - 11:30p, 7a - 3:30p

Shift: 2 - Evening Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America)

Hours: 32 hrs/week

Cost Center: 21000 - 3500 Radiology Diagnostic

Union: SHARE Marlborough

Under the supervision of the Senior Radiologic Technologist, provides direct patient care services and other related functions in support of the department. Performs independently within scope of department policies. Clinically works at the direction of a qualified Radiologist.

Major Responsibilities
  • Properly performs all diagnostic and fluoroscopic radiologic techniques and examinations, consistent with the age of the patient, within in-patient or outpatient settings, in compliance with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
  • Gather and maintain pertinent clinical data and accurate patient records.
  • Accurately completes all exams, paperwork and submits promptly.
  • Positions and transfers patients appropriately.
  • Assists physicians with interventional exams.
  • Promptly and properly completes exams and appropriately performs QA to images and then sends exams to PACS for review by the radiologist.
  • Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory.
  • Provides Radiological technology skills to perform all exams including portables, Emergency Department work, C-ARM, fluoroscopy, and general radiology procedures.
  • Assists with any other job-related duties including film hanging, office duties and discrepancy documentation and follow-up.

Position Qualifications
License/Certification/Education
  • Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Experience/Skills
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced setting, collaborating with peers to produce optimum results.
  • Required: Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.
  • Preferred: Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
  • Constantly: Working indoors, precise hearing required, precise vision required; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling – less than 10 pounds.
  • Frequently: Standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, grasping.
  • Often: Sitting, bending, kneeling, performing repetitive movements, high level of stress, precise motor skills required; lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling – 10 pounds to over 100 pounds.
  • Never: Climbing, balancing, crawling, working outdoors, working in temperature extremes, and working at heights.
