Job summary

USA Health in Mobile, AL is seeking an experienced Radiologic Technologist specialized in MRI to join our radiology team. You will perform MRI exams, ensure patient safety, and maintain high imaging quality under radiologist supervision.

Responsibilities include adherence to safety standards, patient positioning, IV access, contrast administration, and assisting with MRI procedures. ARRT certification and relevant experience required; advanced registry preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an approved course in Radiologic Technology, 1 year experience conducting routine diagnostic procedures, and completion of an approved program in advanced modality or one year of experience in advance modality.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology may substitute for up to one year of experience.
  • ARRT Registry in Diagnostic Radiology within 1 year required.
  • Advanced registry is highly preferred and may be required for certain modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Abides by compliance requirements and policies and performs responsibilities ethically.
  • Maintains aseptic technique and patient safety during procedures.
  • Operates MRI equipment including 3T/1.5T systems and related coils.
  • Performs patient positioning, IV access, and contrast administration per protocol.
  • Assists radiologists during MRI procedures and documents imaging.
  • Reviews prior imaging and coordinates with clinicians for appropriate exams.

Responsibilities
  • Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.

    Exhibits an acceptable work ethic as evidenced by regular and prompt attendance, as well as following all timekeeping/ clocking policies.

    Utilizes proper body mechanics when:

    • Moving, positioning and transferring patients without assistance or with assistance when needed for patient safety.
    • Moving equipment/supplies necessary to perform essential functions.

    Demonstrates CPR according to American Heart Association standards.

    Works assigned schedule including overtime and call as required.

    May assist with training of MRI students.

    Performs a variety of related digital image management tasks as necessary. i.e. exceptions, annotations

    Maintains competency by demonstrating a complete working knowledge of all imaging equipment and supplies, including but not limited to:

    • 3T and/or 1.5T MRI
    • All coils associated with MRI exams
    • Power injector
    • MRI patient monitoring equipment
    • Post processing software

    Demonstrates proper positioning for all MRI exams.

    Appropriately labels patient position to recent correct orientation of images.

    Adjusts scanning factors and coils according to patient and body part being examined.

    Adjusts scanning parameters for "conditional" implants according to manufacturer literature, peer-reviewed data, and product labeling.

    Adheres to all MRI safety and screening policies for patients, visitors, and healthcare workers and reports unsafe practices and conditions.

    Performs patient assessment and screening within the scope of practice.

    Reviews patient's prior imaging and history to ensure appropriate exam is ordered, consulting the Radiologist or ordering practitioner when needed.

    Researches surgical histories and researches devices and implants.

    Demonstrates understanding of the hazards associated with MRI and considers these hazards when pardoning all functions.

    Uses proper padding and ensures patient positioning or devices do not create a "loop" to reduce potential for bums.

    Uses methods to alleviate claustrophobia or anxiety for patients.

    Recognizes emergency situations and initiates code procedures as needed, following safe MRI procedures.

    Maintains aseptic or sterile technique, as appropriate, when performing MRI image-guided invasive procedures.

    Directly assists the Radiologist/physician during MRI image-guided invasive procedures.

    Prepares patient for intravenous (IV) injections: starting the IV and maintaining access.

    Administers IV contrast per approved protocols.

  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned
Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

  • Advanced registry is highly preferred and may be required for certain modalities
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
