Job summary

University of Vermont Health Network seeks a Rad Tech II to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Burlington, VT. You will perform diagnostic imaging procedures, ensure patient safety and comfort, and collaborate with physicians and clinical staff.

Qualifications

  • Requires ARRT certification and active state licensure to practice radiography.
  • Completion of a program in Radiologic Technology and BLS certification are required.
  • Candidate must follow ALARA and infection prevention standards.
  • Experience with DR/CR and fluoroscopy is preferred but not always required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced diagnostic radiologic procedures per orders and protocols.
  • Position patients and operate radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment for quality images.
  • Ensure radiation safety and regulatory compliance, including infection prevention.
  • Review patient history, explain procedures, and ensure informed care.
  • Document procedures accurately in EMR, PACS, and RIS systems.
  • Maintain exam rooms and equipment, conduct basic QC and troubleshoot issues.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and clinical staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Provide guidance to junior technologists and students as needed.
  • Participate in meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Job description

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Rad Tech II to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Burlington, VT. In this role, you will perform diagnostic imaging procedures, ensure patient safety and comfort, and collaborate closely with physicians and clinical staff. You will operate advanced radiologic equipment, follow established protocols, and maintain accurate patient records. Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and advanced diagnostic radiologic procedures according to provider orders and established protocols
  • Position patients and operate radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment to obtain high‑quality diagnostic images
  • Apply radiation protection principles and comply with all safety, regulatory, and infection prevention standards
  • Review patient history, screen for contraindications, and explain procedures to ensure informed, compassionate care
  • Monitor patients during and after imaging, recognizing and promptly escalating urgent or unexpected findings
  • Accurately document procedures and enter required information into the electronic medical record and PACS
  • Maintain and prepare exam rooms and equipment, performing basic quality control and troubleshooting issues
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to coordinate efficient patient care and workflow
  • Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior technologists or students as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings, in‑service education, and quality improvement or process optimization initiatives
