Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Radiology Technologist Assistant for weekend shifts. The role includes transporting patients, assisting with positioning, and preparing patients for imaging while documenting information in the EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient positioning and prepping for imaging.
  • Manage electronic images; print and retrieve images as needed.
  • Communicate stat orders to technologists/physicians as required.
  • Assist with new employee orientation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in patient areas.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and report service needs.

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare

Hours: Monday, Thursday, and Friday, three 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)

The Radiology Technologist Assistant transports and/or escorts patients to and from diagnostic testing areas. They assist technologists with patient positioning, prepping patients, and documenting information within the EMR.

  • Greets visitors/patients and facilitates meeting their needs and facility needs.
  • Transports patients via appropriate mode of transportation to and from Imaging Services. Assists patients to ensure safe transfer between wheelchairs/stretchers and imaging equipment. Facilitates patient flow.
  • Helps patient complete history sheets.
  • Assists with positioning and prepping of patients.
  • Manages electronic images. Reviews and prints images. May enter data and retrieve office files.
  • May prep the patient by gaining appropriate IV access for the administration of saline and/or contrast.
  • Calls physician offices. Notifies technologist/radiologist/physician of stat orders and changes.
  • Receives and screens in-coming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls to appropriate individual and takes messages as needed. Assists physicians with retrieving report information from dictation system.
  • Assists with new employee orientation.
  • Maintains cleanliness and neatness of equipment, patient areas and work areas. Orders and stocks all necessary supplies and linens. Assist with office supply inventory.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems. Communicates to appropriate person when service needs to be contacted.
  • Complies with infection control, radiation safety, OSHA standards, and practices safe operation of all assigned equipment.

Good interpersonal, communication and employee development skills. Required to complete an IV access course within 6 months of hire.

Compensation Range

$16.18 - $22.65

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
