5-Star Refrigeration is seeking a Commercial Refrigeration Technician to build on existing HVAC/refrigeration skills and learn rack systems in the Ocala-The Villages area. This field‑service role is not remote and requires living in or near the territory.

You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain walk‑ins, reach‑ins, condensers, evaporators, and more while gaining hands‑on rack refrigeration exposure and on‑call rotation readiness. Smart Care supports training and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous commercial HVAC and/or cold‑side refrigeration experience
• Experience troubleshooting commercial equipment
• Basic knowledge of refrigeration principles and components
• Electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
• EPA certification
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently in the field
• Good communication and customer‑service skills
• Willingness to learn more complex commercial refrigeration systems
• Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation
• Residence in or around the Ocala‑The Villages territory

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment
• Service walk‑in coolers and freezers, reach‑ins, condensing units, evaporators, and other commercial cold‑side equipment
• Learn to troubleshoot and service commercial rack refrigeration systems
• Develop your knowledge of compressors, refrigerant circuits, controls, defrost systems, cases, and related components
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues
• Perform leak detection, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and system repairs
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
• Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential equipment failures
• Respond to service calls throughout the assigned territory
• Communicate with customers regarding equipment conditions and completed repairs
• Accurately document service work
• Work independently while staying connected with dispatch and the service team
• Participate in an on‑call rotation as required
