Job summary

Welch Equipment Company, Inc. in Colorado is seeking an assembler to build off-the-lift platforms and a variety of shelving systems, including storage, rack, structural and steel shelving.

You will follow blueprints, respect safety rules, and use PPE such as hard hats and steel-toe boots. The role requires using hand and cordless tools, aligning components, bolting and welding as needed, and erecting shelving structures.

Qualifications

• Must use PPE including hard hat, steel-toe boots, work gloves, vest and goggles.
• Capable of using hand tools and cordless power tools for assembly.
• Familiar with mechanical assembly practices and quality standards.
• Ability to verify accuracy and quality per established standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble various shelving systems per blueprints and instructions.
• Bolt aligned steel members, position for permanent fastening, welding as needed.
• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts; follow supervisor guidance.
• Erect warehouse racking components and position steel members safely.

Job Objective

The person in this position will assemble off the lift platforms storage shelving, rack shelving, structural shelving and steel shelving systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Requires all PPE - Hard hat, Steel toe boots, Work gloves, Safety Vest, Safety Goggles.
• Assemble various shelving systems.
• Bolt aligned -steel members in position for permanent fastening, bolting, or welding into place.
• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
• Drive drift pins through rivet holes in order to align rivet holes in structural-steel members with corresponding holes in previously placed members.
• Erect metal and precast components for shelving such as warehouse racking systems, retail storage systems, drive-in, cantilever and tear drop pallet racking.
• Hoist and position steel members into final positions, using hands, lift trucks, and hand tools.
• Pull, push, or pry structural-steel members into approximate positions for bolting into place.

Requirements and KSAs

• Capable of using hand tools, cordless power tools and mechanical assembly tools while handling materials and fasteners
• Familiar with concepts and standards of mechanical practices and procedures for shelving assembly
• May be required to verify accuracy and quality in accordance with established standards
• Ability to safely bend, lift, kneel, sit, and stand frequently
