Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Sportscar Motorsports Strategy intern to perform complex analytical work supporting the GM Motorsports program in Concord, NC. You will analyze race data, develop strategy tools, and apply AI/ML to improve performance; work with engineers and strategists in a collaborative environment.

The role requires a related degree, summer full-time availability, and familiarity with Python/AI/ML and .NET.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering or data science field.
• Graduation window: December 2027 to June 2029.
• Full-time, 40 hours/week during summer.
• Familiarity with Python, AI/ML concepts, and/or .NET programming technologies.
• Ability to organize and analyze data in a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze race, vehicle, tire, weather, and simulation data to identify trends.
• Support development and testing of race-strategy and vehicle-performance tools.
• Apply engineering, statistics, optimization, and dynamic-systems concepts to motorsports problems.
• Develop scripts and visualizations to improve engineering decision speed and consistency.
• Explore AI/ML applications including time-series, classification, anomaly detection.
• Validate results against engineering expectations and observed race data.
• Document methods and communicate recommendations to technical teams.
