Job summary

Cmr-Ops is seeking a dedicated Fast Race Team coach to guide athletes, both on and off the snow, and to assist the Program Director. The role involves working with kids and families, coordinating with parents and other coaches, and contributing to fundraising efforts.

Ideal candidates will have USSA/PSIA certifications, extensive snowsport coaching experience, and a valid Washington driver's license. The position requires weekend availability during the season and a strong commitment to safety

Qualifications

• Knowledge of USSA philosophies, concepts, training, and competition guidelines.
• Ability to work autonomously in training and competition environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to ski expert level ski runs and FIS homologated courses.
• Ability to regularly ascend several hundred vertical feet of mountainous terrain and participate in calisthenics with athletes.

Responsibilities

• Coach FAST athletes and support Program Director both on and off the snow.
• Attend local and regional U14 races and manage personal transportation to races.
• Communicate clearly with parents, athletes, and coaches.
• Participate in fund raising activities and events.
• Promote winter sports across ability levels and disciplines.
• Prepare facilities and assist on/off snow as needed.

Supervisor: Fast Head Coach

Department: Fast Race Team

Type: October-end of Season / Seasonal

Position Overview: Provide coaching to FAST athletes and support to Program Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Essential Job Functions:

• Work with athletes, on and off the snow, to ensure progress towards their goals.
• Attend local and regional U14 races with athletes. (Responsible for personal transportation to / from all races.)
• Passion for working with kids, coaching, families and the sport of Ski Racing.
• Communicate clearly with parents, athletes, and other coaches.
• Participate in fund raising activities and events.
• Promote winter sports competition for all levels of abilities and disciplines.
• Participate and be present to set up / remove off / on site and facility preparation on / off the snow.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform the job and get along with others to build a positive working environment.
• Conduct and coordinate on-the-job training for department staff.
• Show up to work on time with consistent attendance.
• Physically perform the essential job functions of this position.
• Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Factors:

• Exposure to cold temperatures and severe weather.
• Continuous interaction with parents, athletes, coaches, and the general public.
• Walking, bending, rotating, and standing constantly.
• Standing for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours).
• Regular ascension of vertical feet in mountainous terrain and calisthenics.
• Repetitive use of hands, arms, shoulders, back, and legs frequently.
• Lifting to waist level of 40 lbs. infrequently, 60 lbs. occasionally, and 10 lbs. frequently.
• Sight and hearing of acceptable standards for Essential Job Functions.
• Frequently walking on uneven, steep, and slippery terrain with job site hazards.
• The working environment may be stressful when meeting guest, coaches, athletes, staff, and general public needs.

Requirements

Education / Experience:

• Certification: Current USSCA Level I, II, or III, PSIA Level I, II, or III or commensurate experience or education.
• Earn Level 100 USSA certification if not already certified.
• Minimum four years experience in Snowsport instruction / coaching and competitions.
• Minimum five years coaching/teaching or background in racing.
• Valid Washington State Driver License.
