Job summary

Urban One is seeking a Traffic Manager in Indianapolis, IN to manage station logs for commercial, programming and promotional content. The role reports to Regional Traffic Director and requires coordinating with multiple departments to maximize inventory and ensure accuracy.

The position focuses on implementing log processes, monitoring approvals, and maintaining compliance with FCC and SOX standards while guiding a team and supporting growth within the Traffic department.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; minimum 3 years relevant experience and/or training.
• Experience with traffic operations and log management.
• Ability to supervise and mentor staff and work collaboratively with departments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare logs using Wide-Orbit System, including creation, scheduling, processing, contract generation, and submission to Programming.
• Monitor codes, rates, spot rotations, and inventory; schedule commercials and reconcile post-logs.
• Merge music logs and produce/edit time-sold and pre-emption reports to maximize inventory.
• Distribute daily bump reports to affected departments and verify accuracy of on-air and promo orders.
• Coordinate with Accounting, Sales, Programming, Production, Promotions, etc., and provide leadership to the team.

The Traffic Manager will be responsible for managing station logs for commercial, programming and promotional content.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare logs using Wide-Orbit System, including creation, scheduling, processing , contract generation, and submission to the Programming
• Monitor competitive codes, rates, spot rotations, and available inventory and schedule commercials accordingly. Reconcile post-logs for approval and posting to boardfile; research and report discrepancies for follow-up
• Merge music logs
• Produce, edit and advise on “time-sold” and pre-emption reports to maximize inventory; post inventory to other systems as required
• Analyze daily bump commercial reports and distribute relevant information to affected departments for follow-up
• Review on‑air time sales, promotion and programming, and news orders and/or public service announcements to verify accuracy and completeness
• Review sponsor requests for specific dates, and times of announcements; recommend alternate dates, and times and input information to update the log
• Liaison with other departments, i.e. Accounting, Sales, Programming, Production, Promotions etc. as required
• Demonstrate the ability to lead and direct a team to include but not limited to:
• Provide regular constructive feedback in accordance with HR department expectations
• Resolve issues/conflicts with diplomacy in a timely manner
• Provide ongoing guidance and support for growth and development
• Deploy effective coaching skills
• Ability to effectively administer performance reviews, and corrective action plans as appropriate in a timely fashion
• The ability to foster an inclusive work environment free of workplace harassment and bullying
• Complies with Urban One’s mandatory trainings, and adheres to related course deadlines
• Develop and distribute reports to requesting departments
• Facilitate distribution of broadcast confirmations to Sales and clients
• Prepare and circulate network affidavits
• Build hourly clocks as required
• Maintain logs and records retention
• Assist with scheduling of Emergency Alert System (EAS) tests for compliance with FCC regulations
• Ensure satisfactory audits and SOX 404 compliance for areas of responsibility
• Back up Traffic Manager and Continuity Director as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Effectively interact well with management, staff and clients
• Demonstrate attention to accuracy and detail
• Knowledge of traffic, digital media, CRM (client relationship manager, e.g. Efficio)
• Efficient in Microsoft Offices and SharePoint systems

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree or equivalent. Minimum 3 years relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
