Job summary

Broadcom Inc. is seeking an experienced VMKernel engineer to advance the core kernel subsystems for ESXi within the VCF virtualization platform.

You will work with multiple teams to design and implement kernel-level features that manage both virtual and physical hardware and interfaces with device drivers and POSIX user programs. The role requires strong C programming skills, deep knowledge of kernel architectures, and proven experience in preemptive multi-threaded environments.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in CS or related field with required years of experience
• Strong understanding of kernel-level OS architectures (Linux/Unix/Solaris/BSD/Windows)
• Extensive kernel-level development experience and synchronization in preemptive multi-threaded environments
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and C programming skills
• Legal authorization to work in the US

Responsibilities

• Learn tools and processes to become a VMKernel engineer
• Participate in design and development of OS techniques and algorithms for managing virtual and real hardware
• Design and implement kernel locking techniques, filesystems, and kernel APIs to interface with drivers and user programs
• Collaborate with multiple teams to architect and deliver new products based on the VCF virtualization platform
• Own parts of core kernel infrastructures and potentially lead larger projects
