Job summary

VIAVI Solutions, a global provider of network test and assurance solutions, offers an Early-Career Test Automation Engineer program in Indianapolis. You will rotate across multiple R&D teams, developing automated tests for embedded instruments and software, using a clean-architecture C++/Qt5 application with Python/pytest, Jenkins, Docker, and Jira/Confluence.

You will participate in Scrum ceremonies, contribute to test coverage, and grow across different product stacks and hardware targets

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
• Strong Python skills with pytest; capable of building automated tests.
• Experience with C/C++, Windows or Linux, and networking (TCP/IP, 802.11, Bluetooth).
• Familiarity with Linux command line, Git, and test frameworks.
• Ability to work in Scrum teams and communicate across disciplines.
• Willingness to live/work at VIAVI sites during rotations internationally.

Responsibilities

• Write, maintain, and extend automated tests in Python (pytest) for multiple teams.
• Contribute to Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and automated test runs.
• Manage Docker-based test environments for reproducible results.
• Execute tests on PC/Linux and embedded hardware targets.
• Collaborate with developers and Product Owners to define acceptance criteria.
• Monitor code coverage and report gaps.
• Maintain test documentation in Confluence and Jira test plans.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and contribute to Definition of Done.
• Lead automation efforts during each rotation.
