Job summary

Rangeview, Inc. is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer for hands-on R&D work in El Segundo, CA. You will develop equipment, software, controls, and workflows to enable Rangeview's R&D group to prototype and mature new manufacturing capabilities.

This role spans software, mechanical, electrical, and optics domains, requiring collaboration with scientists and engineers to rapidly iterate from concept to validated hardware. Equity is included, and onsite work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls engineering, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience developing, integrating, or modifying complex electromechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software interfaces.
• Experience with hands-on prototyping, troubleshooting, equipment integration, or experimental development.
• Experience using CAD to design mechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, or equipment modifications.
• Experience programming or scripting for engineering applications, automation, data acquisition, or computational workflows.
• Strong ability to diagnose ambiguous technical problems, develop hypotheses, run structured tests, and implement practical solutions.
• Working knowledge of experimental design and applied statistics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Modify equipment hardware, software, motion systems, and controls to support experimental materials and new process capabilities.
• Develop and automate manufacturing, handling, post-processing equipment, and monitoring equipment.
• Design, select, integrate, commission, and improve equipment to increase observability and reliability.
• Develop and integrate measurement systems for data acquisition and analysis.
• Troubleshoot equipment and software issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with process engineers to translate findings into improved methods.
• Support expansion of Rangeview's equipment base and coordinate with Facilities and manufacturers.
• Serve as the responsible engineer for assigned workstreams from concept to validation and handoff.
