Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking a Research and Development Mechatronics Engineer for the Albuquerque, NM area to join the Test Technology Division. You will integrate COTS software with test platforms, design control systems, and code new applications for performance optimization.

You will also assist with program planning, budgeting and status reporting while engaging with stakeholders and customers to meet project objectives on a DoD facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience with automation and control systems and software such as National Instruments, Allen Bradley.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams and support test setups.
  • Supervise layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of experimental hardware.
  • Experience prototyping, simulating and testing integrated sensor systems.
  • Strong project management and budgeting skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD-Electric and SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Interface with customers/executives and manage team members toward objectives.
  • Support engineering design through analysis and simulation of prototypes and 3D models.
  • Assist with engineering calculations, design drawings, and preliminary cost estimates.

Description

Applied Research Associates, Inc., Test Technology Division in Albuquerque, NM is looking for a Research and Development Mechatronics Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will assist the Engineering and Scientific staff in performing integration of COTS software with unique test articles and research platforms. This position is responsible for specifying and installing control systems and maintaining and coding new applications to optimize performance. You will gain a deep understanding of defense research related to ordinance and energetics. In addition to your technical role, you will assist with program management, planning and budgeting, and status reporting.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • The ability to interface with customers/executives and communicate effectively with key stakeholders, and subsequently manage team members towards meeting project objectives
  • Support engineering design development through analysis and simulation of prototypes and 3D computer models
  • Assist with engineering calculations, design drawings, preliminary cost estimates
  • Read and interpreted blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports
  • Developing new skillsets that support the dynamic needs in a R&D business unit

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work or military experience
  • Experience with automation and control systems and software such as National Instruments, Allen Bradley
  • Be able to read schematic diagrams and support assembly of test setups and field testing.
  • Supervise layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of experimental or test hardware.

Typical Education/Experience:

Typically, 2 or more years' related work experience or relevant military experience. Demonstrated curiosity in HW/SW integration.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Work Shift:

This position is salaried at 40 hours per week on a DoD Government facility.

Summary pay range: $80,000 - $110,250
