Job summary

Carlisle Construction Materials, a market leader in single-ply commercial roofing systems, is seeking an experienced R&D Manager – EPDM Membranes to guide technical strategy and the innovation roadmap for our EPDM portfolio.

You will oversee a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, drive formulation development, scale pilot and plant processes, ensure quality and code compliance, and collaborate across Manufacturing, Marketing, and Leadership.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's, Ph.D., or MBA preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive R&D experience in polymer formulation, membrane science, or process engineering, preferably with EPDM or related elastomer technologies.
• Proven track record of leading technical teams, managing innovation portfolios, and commercializing new products.
• Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, EPDM processing, laboratory characterization techniques, and industry testing standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of next-generation EPDM formulations and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Guide pilot and plant-scale commercialization efforts and ensure products meet quality standards and code compliance.
• Represent Carlisle within industry organizations and build strategic partnerships with suppliers, universities, and external laboratories.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Product Management, Marketing, Quality, and Business Leadership to translate scientific breakthroughs into market-leading solutions.
