Job summary

Primient is seeking an R&D Lab Tech in Tennessee to perform 15 L fed-batch fermentation experiments and collect data, while providing molecular or microbiological diagnostics for production issues. You will operate HPLC, GC, carbohydrate analyzers, balances and meters, and support cell bank work for 1,3-propanediol manufacture.

The role demands a self-starter with the ability to manage a diverse workload, lift 55 lbs, and work night shifts or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a 4-year college degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry or related science field with at least 1-year biological or chemical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and ability to work smoothly in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment/adapt to changing procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift 55lbs and use ladders to work from heights.
  • Night shift, holidays and/or weekends may be required on a limited basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide molecular or microbiological diagnostic testing for issues related to production strain performance, foreign bacterial growth in fermenters or downstream processes, and bacteriophage testing.
  • Operate laboratory analytical equipment for the R&D laboratory, including HPLC, GC, carbohydrate analyzers, balances and meters.
  • Hands-on support for the manufacture and validation of working and master cell banks used in the manufacture of 1,3-propanediol.
  • Obtain and analyze field samples from the manufacturing process to assist troubleshooting and improvement initiatives.
  • Complete lab-scale trials of downstream processes including ion exchange and filtration.

Job Description

The job scope includes:
