Job summary

ABB is offering an internship opportunity in Florence, SC, with onsite/hybrid work arrangements. You will gain hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical design, analysis, and documentation under the guidance of an R&D team leader.

You will learn to apply Design for Six Sigma and Design for Reliability, manage design data in Creo/Windchill, and develop user stories in Azure DevOps while contributing to real projects and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering in the United States.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
• Experience with Agile and Azure DevOps is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Get exposure to design, develop, analyze, and document product designs meeting functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements.
• Learn to work in an Agile environment, pull backlog items, and deliver to acceptance criteria with guidance from the R&D Project Leader.
• Create and maintain User stories in Azure DevOps with supporting technical documentation for all design work.
• Prepare and maintain product documentation, instruction manuals, project notebooks, and design/test documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and analyze concepts for cost effectiveness of mechanical/electrical designs.
• Support cross-functional collaboration with Purchasing and Manufacturing; assist in supplier selection and component evaluation.
