Job summary

Altamira Technologies seeks a Research and Development Engineer to support NSIC, focusing on space-based object visualization and data exploitation. You will develop software prototypes, evaluate AI/ML approaches, and document results to drive practical capabilities.

The role emphasizes rigorous engineering practices, collaboration across disciplines, and mentorship of junior engineers in software development and research. Eligibility includes the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Python, Rust, Go and/or C/C++ and knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience in research and development, algorithm development, or applied AI/ML.
• Ability to prototype software and test hypotheses independently.
• Ability to scope and estimate work within an Agile Scrum team.
• TS/SCI clearance eligibility or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Research and prototyping: explore concepts, evaluate algorithms, and build software prototypes.
• AI/ML development: train, evaluate, and tune models to improve data exploitation and visualization.
• Workflow development: define requirements and break down research objectives into tasks.
• Technical documentation and communication: document approaches, results, and risks while reporting progress.
• Agile execution: participate in Scrum ceremonies and deliver incremental results.
• Collaboration and mentorship: mentor junior engineers and share knowledge.
